There are two types of people when it comes to working from home – those that love it and those that hate. However, no matter what side you’re on, we’re all likely to experience some form of work from home fatigue at one point or another.
With the dark Winter days lingering on and not much sign of many of us getting back to the office anytime soon, you may be finding it harder and harder to get up in the morning and separate work from home.
So, what better time than now to add a little excitement and feel-good factor to your life and decorate your home office? It may just be the extra boost you need to get yourself out of bed in the morning and into work mode.
Decorating your home office doesn’t need to cost the earth. Whether you have an entire room, or simply a corner in your house, there’s small changes you can make that will really help to improve your mood and productivity.
First things first, it’s all about the lighting. Try to position your desk near a window if possible. No, this isn’t so that you can pass the hours staring idly out the window. Rather, natural daylight is known to increase your serotonin levels which, in turn, can improve your mood and boost concentration.
However, if that’s not possible, you may want to consider investing in some funky feel good lighting. We love a brightly coloured lampshade at Bluebellgray, particularly in the Autumn and Winter months, to remind us of brighter Summer days.
Nothing will booster your productivity quite like some brand new stationary. Notebooks are great for writing to do lists. These can be daily, weekly or even monthly – whatever works for you! Treat yourself to some of our printed notebooks and give yourself the satisfaction of ticking off your accomplishments.
Cushions are a great way to add a pop of colour and comfort to your home office.
Without our usual commute to work and walks to the shop to get lunch, our bodies are spending a lot of time sat down. This can really take a toll after a while so it’s a good idea to invest in some cushions for comfort. And our gorgeous floral designs are an added bonus too!
Tea and coffee breaks – our favourite part of the day!
Granted, these are no longer spent with our work mates but it’s still important to take some time away from our screens. While you may face temptation to clean the dishes, fold the washing etc, it’s important to take real and regular breaks throughout your workday, to help you maintain productivity and retain information better.
Our brand new, hand painted mug collection will help make those breaks a little more special and look extra cute sat on your desk.
Last but not least, for those that have a little extra budget to splurge on – treat yourself to one of our printed statement rugs. Both our hand tufted and polyamide rug collections contain investment pieces that will brighten up any room. As we always say, a bright and colourful home office is a happy home office.
